Gab es schon im frühen Chalkolithikum Göttinnenverehrung?

Abstract

The article presents recent findings from the earliest Chalcolithic age in Israel/Palestine that may contribute to the discussion around goddesses and their veneration in ancient times. It seems that from the 5th millennium the idea and symbolic representation of a “mother of all living” came into being. This earth goddess was the origin and patroness of plants, animals and humans in life, but also the earth where all living creatures return to at the end of life. Shedding light on the emergence and development of symbolic constellations, this contribution also points to some implications for biblical exegesis. [1]
